Caro Aguila
Caro Aguila is a first-generation Cuban-American, originally from Miami, FL, and now based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. She earned her master's degree in Counseling with a concentration in Advanced Applied Behavior Analysis from Nova Southeastern University in 2016. Currently, Caro serves as the Regional Coordinator for Positive Behavior Supports, Corp., overseeing operations in the District of Columbia and South Maryland regions.
Caro's journey into Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) began when she served as a caregiver for her oldest niece. That experience ignited her passion for the field, and for over 15 years, she has dedicated her career to education and ABA. Her extensive travels throughout the U.S. and abroad have further fueled her desire to connect with diverse communities, embracing their traditions and values. This exploration has deepened her belief that "la cultura es un puente, no una pared" (culture is a bridge, not a wall).
Caro is deeply committed to the professional development of ABA practitioners. She emphasizes the importance of cultural competence, diversity, and adaptive practices to enhance service delivery and ensure meaningful outcomes for clients. By fostering self-reflection to encourage caregiver buy-in, she helps promote sustainable progress and the generalization of skills.
Outside of her professional life, Caro enjoys spending quality time with her partner, Wesly, and their Bichon Frisé mix, Oliver. Whether they're seeking the best local eateries, exploring national and state parks, or unwinding at home with good books and shows, the trio embraces life's simple pleasures.
