Sometimes, life is scary. And as much as we want to try to be brave, we might experience some pretty intense feelings around some specific circumstances. What we often find is a bubbling up of aversive sensations, rapidly followed by a variety of avoidance behavior. Unfortunately, there are some things we have to accomplish that may work towards improving and maintaining our quality of life. Thankfully, we can face our fears…with science! In this discussion, Dr. Shane T. Spiker will outline the key components of systematic desensitization and how we can individualize our practices to support our own needs as well as the needs of our learners.
