Applied Behaviour Analysis
Positive behavior support (PBS) is an individualized, research-based process that incorporates the principles of applied behaviour analysis and person and family-centered practices. The overarching goal is to produce lasting changes in the quality of life of the people we serve. It involves conducting comprehensive assessments to develop interventions in collaboration with family members, educators, direct services providers, and others caring for the individual.
Therapeutic Respite
PBS Canada provides therapeutic respite care to families of children with autism spectrum disorder. A therapeutic respite provider comes to your home to support your child. This service combines respite care with applied behaviour analysis (ABA) techniques, allowing your child to engage in meaningful, enjoyable activities while also working on individualized goals. The provider builds a positive, trusting relationship with your child and incorporates evidence-based ABA strategies into play and daily routines. Activities are tailored to your child’s age, abilities, interests, and goals, ensuring support is both effective and engaging. PBS Canada respite providers can also consult with your other service providers, such as your Behaviour Analyst, to ensure they are using your child's individualized plans. This can help them to best support your child in such domains as communication, emotional regulation, independent living skills, social interactions, and preventing and responding to interfering behaviours. PBS Canada respite care allows families the break they may need in order to work through the recommendations of other service providers. PBS Canada puts families first!
Training and Consultation
PBS Canada is available to provide customizable training to meet the needs of any target audience. We work collaboratively to provide systems-wide behaviour supports to promote inclusion opportunities. PBS Canada will utilize effective teaching practices based on the principles of applied behaviour analysis.
